Bagdad shed on Wednesday. He now shows off his new colors. He looks like a flower and is waiting for cuddles and compliments. My cold is getting better but I am still contagious. Not sure he understands. The most beautiful about him is his balance and the way he uses his tail to maintain it. He is joyful and likes dropping from my shoulders to my lower back - a bump - where I pick him. As a baby he used to snap. He would snap then let go. I presented the finger again.

He did not like me the first time and he did not like me the next time either so he snapped again. He is my shyest little friend. He once found a gardening leaflet with pictures and a strong smell and pulled out in the blink of an eye. Bagdad loves climbing and playing with his balance. He likes being handled and having attention too.

Bagdad is coughing. The nose is clean but he is coughing and it shakes his whole body. He goes to the vet tomorrow.

Bagdad had his last injection yesterday. He looks good and breathes well. He is a very shy, mild creature.

Bagdad knows his name and is very curious. He comes out of his hide when I get up in the morning and smells the coffee smell. He watches the morning activity, watches me drink my coffee like I watch him drink his water, which is quiet hilarious.

Bagdad now defecates at the far, warm end of his tank, opposite the entrance door. He does like cuddles and attention, however his tank is his territory, and if I come too close too often I am an unwelcome intruder. The pooh is now well brown, without any trace of stress. Those observations might seem disgusting: they are not, smell, and the way animals produce it is key for them, it is the way they communicate, assert themselves, seduce, track their preys. I remove it and only leave a wet straw.

Bagdad is very tender. He has now become a young male snake. He is not an adult yet but the musclez and the back are not of a juvenile anymore. He has got a personnality. He is tender, curious, but does not like being crossed. I would like him to become stronger. All I can do is control the temperature, the feeding and regularly take him to the vet. He is an excellent feeder but vulnerable to infections. A feeding while shedding made him bring up, then antibiotics. Slightly worried.

Bagdad shed. He has got all the colors of the sun in his new suit. I handled him, then he chose going back into his tank. Now he has burrowed. There is only the little nose showing. He is hunting. I used to feed them on Tuesday so he did everything perfect, had shed and was ready to feed on Tuesday but now I feed them on Sundays. Bagdad is hunting.

    Changed Bagdad's tank.

Mary, the vet, says Bagdad is a very handsome snake. It is true. He is very sociable too, likes handling and attention and puts a lot on having a clean tank and fresh water every day. He rambles a lot and does need the handling for his daily exercise.

Bagdad has had pneumonia. He coughed blood during the night on Friday a week ago and left some traces in 2 places in his tank. I brought him to the emergencies. He had a first injection of antibiotics, and some X-Rays the next following Monday. His heart is fine. He now has some more antibiotic injections to take, 1 today. He is almost over it, breathes normally but gets tired quiet fast when handled. Handling helps him getting rid of his mucus. He accepts injections well. Very clever, & brave.
